Frequently Asked Questions
What areas do you serve for dog training?
Albany Off Leash K9 Training works with dog owners throughout Albany and the Capital Region. The website includes location pages for Amsterdam, Schenectady, Troy, Clifton Park, Guilderland, and Colonie, and this Rotterdam page can be written as a nearby community page as long as the business confirms Rotterdam is part of its service area. We work with dog owners throughout the Capital Region, providing private lessons in public settings and offering board-and-train programs for clients who want intensive training.
Do you offer in-home dog training lessons?
Private lessons are held in public settings such as local parks or pre-approved establishments, not in the home. Training in real-world environments helps your dog learn to focus and respond reliably around distractions, which is essential for lasting results.
What training methods do you use?
We use a balanced training approach that may include treat training, clicker training, and e-collar training, depending on the dog’s age, program, and goals. Training focuses on clear communication, positive reinforcement, safe use of modern tools, and structured obedience that helps dogs respond more reliably around real-world distractions.
How long do training programs take?
Program length depends on the training path selected. Basic Obedience includes 4 private lessons, while Advanced Obedience, Aggression-Focused Lessons, and Therapy Preparation Lessons include 8 private lessons. Board-and-train options include the One Week Board & Train, Two Week Board & Train, and 3-Week Behavioral Modification Board & Train.
